New to Zephyr OnDEMAND? Learn how to Create Blends.

This blog post is the second of three dedicated to helping new users of Zephyr OnDEMAND (ZOD) get started with using the platform.  The first blog titled “New to Zephyr OnDEMAND?  Learn how to Generate Reports”, discusses the steps for generating your compliance approved reports on ZOD.  ZOD is Informa Zephyr’s current online product.  This innovative, web-based reporting tool allows asset managers or advisory firms to fully empower their sales and marketing representatives by giving them the ability to quickly and easily generate compliance-approved Zephyr reports from any location where they have an internet connection.  This post will go over how to create blends and use those blends in reports on ZOD. 

Creating Blends on ZOD

The first step to doing anything on ZOD is logging into your site.  This is done by browsing to www.zephyrondemand.com and entering your e-mail and password.  After logging in, you will notice that ZOD is designed in a tabular format for accessing the different areas of your site.  One of these tabs is the “My Blends” tab and can be accessed by simply clicking on the tab.



On the “My Blends” tab is where you can begin building blends, also known as portfolios.  The blends you build in the “My Blends” tab will only be available on your ZOD login.  Meaning that you will be the only one able to use, modify and delete the blends you create.

To begin creating a blend you will first need to give the blend a name.  This is done by clicking in the “Name” field and typing in the name you would like to assign to the blend.



After giving the blend a name, the next step is to select the assets that your blend will consist of.  The assets you have available will be based on the database subscriptions your company has with ZOD.  To select an asset, you will need to click inside the search bar located below and to the right of the “Name” field.  Once your cursor is in the search field you can begin searching for assets by typing the name or ticker of the product you would like to add and hitting enter on your keyboard.  ZOD will return results below the search bar.



Once you have located the product you would like to include in your blend, you can select it by clicking on it.  This will move the product to the “Select Products” section.  Repeat this process to select all the products that you would like to include in your blend.



Now that you’ve selected all your assets, the next step is to assign a percentage allocation to each asset.  This value can be between 0%-100%.  Click in the allocation box on the row of each product to assign a value.  The overall percentage value of the blend will be calculated on the bottom row of the “Select Products” section.



After assigning an allocation percentage to each product in the blend, a rebalancing frequency can be selected under the “Select rebalance frequency” section.  Your options for rebalancing are monthly (default), quarterly, annually or buy and hold.  Select a frequency by clicking the dropdown menu and selecting one of the four options.



Now that your rebalancing has been selected, you can now set a begin date for your blend under the “Begin Date” section.  The default begin date of the blend will be the common period of all assets selected in your blend.  If you choose to change this date, click the dropdown menu for both the month and year.  It is important to note, that both the rebalance frequency and begin date sections may be locked down and unavailable based on your firm’s ZOD compliance rules.

Once all steps have been completed you can now save your blend.  Click on the “Save” button located at the bottom of the screen.

After the blend is saved, you will be redirected to the main, “My Blends” page.  On this page, as you continue to build more blends they will be listed here.  On this screen, you have additional options to the right-hand side of each blend.  Options such as editing a blend, cloning a blend and deleting a blend.  To use any of these three options you simply click on the desired icon.

With the blends that you create, you can use them in three of the seven reports that come stock with your company’s subscription to ZOD.  Those three reports are the “Blend Analysis”, “Portfolio Comparison Fact Sheet” and the “Manager Analysis”.  All three of these reports allow for blends and individual products to be used when generating an analysis.  We hope this post has been useful in getting started with Zephyr OnDEMAND.  If you need any assistance with anything discussed in this post, feel free to reach out to our support team either by e-mail at solutions@informais.com or by phone at (800) 789-5323.
